When InPost makes sense in B2B sales
In wholesale, large orders usually travel on a pallet or by the seller’s own transport, but part of the sales are small top-up orders: spare parts, consumables, samples. For parcels like these a parcel locker is often more convenient than a courier, because the recipient does not have to wait at the workshop or office door. If you run a B2C channel from the same admin panel, InPost is often a method buyers there simply expect.
The InPost module is a paid module, included in the price of rollouts run by Endora. It works in Poland only.
Two delivery methods: parcel locker and courier
On installation the module adds two entries to the delivery methods catalog:
| Method | What the buyer sees at checkout | ShipX service |
|---|---|---|
| InPost parcel locker | The Geowidget map for picking a point | inpost_locker_standard |
| InPost courier | A regular method choice, delivered to the order address | inpost_courier_standard |
You configure both like any other method: name, price, status and availability in each sales channel are set in the delivery methods section. They appear at checkout only once the integration is active and has a complete set of credentials for the selected mode.
For a parcel locker, the order cannot be placed without a point picked on the map and the recipient’s name and phone number. The selected point is stored with the order, so the admin panel shows which locker the parcel is going to.
From a paid order to a label
- Creating the shipment. Once the order is paid, the module creates the shipment in ShipX by itself. This automation is on by default and can be switched off in the settings.
- Manual generation and retry. The order’s delivery tab has “Generate shipment” and “Retry” buttons. They are useful when the automation is off, or when ShipX rejected an attempt, for example because of an invalid phone number.
- Label. You download the PDF label, in A4 or A6 size, from the shipments tab in the admin panel.
- Status and tracking number. The shipment waits for confirmation until InPost Manager sends a status change event. The tracking number appears on the order after that confirmation.
You set the default shipping parameters once: the sending method, the parcel size template, an optional sending point (when you drop parcels off at a locker or a point), the insured amount and the label size.
Statuses through InPost Manager webhooks
The module does not poll ShipX for shipment status. It learns about changes only through webhooks configured in InPost Manager. This has two consequences:
- The shop’s API address has to be public. InPost sends events to an address reachable from the internet, so an installation without a public backend address will not receive statuses.
- The webhook address is a credential. ShipX does not sign its notifications, so the address contains a secret segment, generated the first time the settings are saved. The address can be replaced with a new one at any time, and events sent to the old one are refused from that moment on.
The same event delivered a second time changes nothing, so retries on the InPost side do not duplicate statuses.
What to prepare on the InPost side
- An InPost Manager account with access to the ShipX API: an organization ID and an access token.
- A Geowidget token, the public key for the point map at checkout.
- Separate credentials for the sandbox and production. The module stores both sets and uses only the one matching the selected mode. After saving, tokens are no longer visible in the admin panel; it only shows that they are set.
- A webhook in InPost Manager. You paste the address copied from the integration settings into the API section, under shipment status webhooks, separately for the sandbox and production.
The settings are in the delivery methods section, on the integrations tab, and can also be reached from the admin command palette. Access requires a dedicated permission for managing InPost.
What the module does not cover
The current version of the integration does not include:
- cash on delivery shipments,
- ZPL and EPL labels for thermal printers,
- InPost Pay,
- the Geowidget map for points outside Poland,
- weekend parcel delivery,
- Fast Returns.
If any of these is a requirement for you, raise it before the rollout.
InPost and other carriers
Delivery methods in Endora Commerce come from adapter modules and do not exclude one another. InPost can run alongside DHL Parcel, which covers DHL courier and POP/BOX points, and alongside methods with no carrier integration, such as personal pickup. The full list is in the integrations catalog.
